My Four Short-Term Goals for Monetizing My Coding Skills

I’ve set myself four short-term goals, each a way to turn code into income:

  1. WordPress plugins
  2. WooCommerce plugins
  3. Moodle plugins
  4. Moodle themes

All four sit on the same PHP foundation, so one skill set can power multiple income streams. That is what makes this plan practical rather than scattered.

The Skills I’m Building

Front end: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript come first, since every admin screen, theme, and storefront depends on them. I’m adding jQuery because WordPress still relies on it, and React for modern interfaces like Gutenberg blocks.

Back end: PHP and MySQL are the core of everything I’ll build. I’m also learning Node.js for build tools and Laravel to strengthen my understanding of MVC and clean architecture.

My Approach

I’m starting small. One focused plugin that solves a real problem beats ten half-finished ideas. Once the first is live, I’ll build on it with a WooCommerce extension, then move into Moodle, where competition is lighter and buyers like schools and universities often pay for quality.

Learning in public keeps me accountable, so expect progress updates here.
